It was around 12:38pm on April 1st in 1984 that Marvin’s own father, Marvin Gay Sr, shot the soul singer twice. Once in the heart, and once again on his left shoulder. The latter proved fatal, and Gaye was pronounced dead at 1.01pm at California Hospital Medical Center

Marvin helped shape that famous Motown sound in the 60’s both in-house and more influentially as a solo artist. He remains one of, if not, THE most influential Soul Singer of all time and loved by the world over.

We here at Brother Strut are no exception - in loving memory of Marvin's contribution to soul and Motown, and the huge influence he had on us as artists, we wrote and dedicated a track on our new album to the man himself, simply called 'Song For Marvin'. Watch the video here.

2nd April 1939 - 1st April 1984 - Rest in Peace Marvin...
